Today, I have a special treat for everyone. You will be reading an interview I did with my guest blogger, Gladys Pimentel. I have known her and her family for many years. She is a beautiful, strong and courageous woman who has inspired the lives of many and continues to do so with the people she crosses path with. As a side note: Ladies, if you live in the Tampa Bay area, you will not want to miss our I AM event. We have the honor of having her as our guest speaker on Friday, January 13, 2017 at LSA church, the event will began at 7:30 pm. (Contact me for more details on the event).
Below is my blog interview with Gladys, I hope you enjoy getting to know her a little bit better. I had so much fun and I want to thank you, Gladys for the opportunity.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Gladys Pimentel, I am a 39 year old mother of 3 ages 20, 18, and 16. I was married 20 amazing years to a wonderful man of God until the Lord called him into His presence on August 11, 2015. I was born and raised in Passaic, New Jersey. Since 1995, I have lived in New York, Texas, and Pennsylvania but decided to settle down and plant roots in Tampa, Florida where I have been since 1996. I am an adventurous person that LOVES to travel and experience new and exciting challenges.
2. Tell us about your business venture, Plunder Designs?
I was invited to a women’s event in Tennessee by a dear friend of mine a few months ago and as you may know these events have vendor tables. I was walking by this one particular table that contained jewelry with inspirational quotes and bible verses. This one necklace in particular caught my eye it read, “Let your faith be bigger than your fear.” Besides this necklace being pretty it reminded me that I have to put my fears aside every single day. It also reminded me of my late husband’s words, “Even though my feelings may be fearful, my faith has to be fearless.” When I arrived home, I kept on thinking about the jewelry and how much it impacted me and also what a great opportunity it would be to supplement my income so I contacted the lady whose name is Lisa Frontiera and asked her how I could become part of this company, she has been such a blessing in my life, I thank God for her every day. I can honestly say that I love every piece of jewelry we sell and I get complemented on a daily basis for wearing beautiful, uplifting jewelry.
3. Society has measured our success by how well we do things in life, what valuable lesson have you learned from failure?
I’ve learned that even in failure there is a lesson. If you sit there and focus on the negative and don’t take it as a learning experience you will never be successful in your endeavors. If you look at my website, you will see that I have named it Day One because I don’t only believe, I KNOW that each day can be your “Day One.” What do I mean by this, without a shadow of a doubt we know that every day contains a night and with that may come loss, pain, hurt, and darkness but there is also a certainty that morning will come and every day can be your “Day One” each morning can bring different circumstances and outlooks but most of all each morning can bring a new JOY, a new song, a new smile, a new opportunity.
4. What is one of the things you are mostly looking forward to achieve in 2017?
I look forward to growing with Plunder Designs and creating an amazing team which will help me reach my goals of becoming a leader with the company. I am also planning and working on creating my own blog and publishing a book that tells my story and experiences thus far. Your prayers and encouragement are greatly coveted and appreciated.
5. What message can you give to that “dreamer” who has big ideas, goals and aspirations but lacks courage or resources to achieve it?
The message that I would share or give a “dreamer” would be to surround yourself with people that believe in you and push you to always be and do better. These same people will not mind investing their time or resources to help you make your goals. I would also remind them what the word teaches us and says in Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 11; “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
