My husband and I along with some amazing people lead LSA Breakout, a Student + YA ministry at our home church and this month we are teaching on the topic of Audacious Faith. This has been a theme that has really confronted us as leaders to cross the line of passive faith to a more aggressive faith. And it has been a joy thus far to pour into the youth the biblical truth of how Almighty and powerful our God is. There is absolutely nothing impossible for Him, how amazing is that when we whole-heartedly and audaciously believe that.
The dictionary defines audacious as: showing willingness to take surprisingly bold risks. (bold, daring, fearless, intrepid, brave, courageous, valiant, heroic, etc.)
If we are going to live an audacious faith, we must believe and expect the impossible to come to life. There’s simply no other way to live. God is looking for people like Moses who was audacious with his faith and believed that God would make a way for the people of Israel to escape slavery. And God honored His faith and parted the Red Sea so that they could walk on dry land. We see a Joshua who obeyed the strange instructions from the Lord when he was asked to simply march around the city of Jericho and begin to praise. No weapons were needed to win this battle, just obedience and worship. And the bible says that the walls of Jericho came tumbling down. This same man, Joshua (well, I may be a bit biased because I love him, both Joshua from the bible and Joshua Feliciano (my husband :-) Okay, I got sidetracked a little! As I was saying, this same guy was so audacious in his faith that he commanded the sun to stand still and guess what?! It stood still! You see God had promised him the victory over his enemies and the sun was coming down and Joshua was like no, the victory will be mine, today! Talk about being audacious and taking surprisingly bold risks!
You see, God loves it! He loves when we can stand firm upon opposition and challenge it. I said earlier, that our team has been confronted to cross the line from having a passive faith to a bold, fearless, brave and courageous one - an audacious faith. Steven Furtick says it best in his book, Sun Stand Still, he says “If you have the audacity to ask, God has the ability to perform”. And I don’t know about you but it’s time for some of us to cross the line from comfort to courage and from passive to audacious. God is looking for a generation who is unapologetic and bold so that He can display His glory in them and through them. When we read about these great men and women of the bible… think about it, they were ordinary people who chose to believe an extraordinary God. They were risk-takers, they did the uncommon, and were unafraid of the difficulties that would arise. They believed and obeyed God; that simple. And as a result of that, God rewarded their faith and gave them great victories.
I want you to be encouraged today and understand that there is nothing too difficult for God. Genesis 18:14 poses the question, “Is there anything too hard for the Lord?” Jeremiah 32:27 says it like this, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is there anything too hard for me? We know the answer is no but do we actually believe it? Our actions will always speak louder than our words and it’s time for us to act like we serve a mighty God who can handle impossibilities. Forget about what I say, do you know what Jesus says? Luke 18:27 says, Jesus speaking, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” Just because things look difficult or impossible doesn’t mean it’s game over. You are not defeated; you are more than a conqueror in Jesus’ name.
Change your mentality, change your vocabulary and start seeing and speaking audaciously. Let whoever think you’re “loco(a)” but do not get side-tracked by the mountains that stand before you because mountains were made to be moved. Bianca Olthoff says this, “What if we were given this mountain to show others it can be moved?” Whatever your mountain looks like, whatever obstacles you are facing, it will be moved. And everyone will have to acknowledge the powerful God you serve and in turn, their faith will grow. Mark 11:23 says, "Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.”
Declare that your faith will not waver. Your faith will grow stronger with each adversity you overcome. Are you ready to live audaciously? Hop on board; tighten up because this will be the best ride of your life.
Audacious Faith, the only way to live.
This is one of my favorite songs and has become an anthem for my life. God will make a way where there is no way. His promise still stands in your life because He is faithul. He will do it again. If he's done it before, He will do it again.
Be Encouraged, Be Blessed!
